The Department trains bachelors and masters in Specialty 192 “Construction and Civil Engineering” with professional focuses in “Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation” and “Development of Natural Gas Fields.”

Students acquire essential knowledge in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, hot water supply, heat supply, gas supply, heat-generating installations, dust and gas cleaning, and heat exchange equipment. Additionally, students study cold water supply and drainage systems, building structures, architecture, construction technology, construction management, economics, and electrical engineering. From the first year, students master computer science, automated design systems, computer-aided drafting, programming basics, and automation of heat and gas supply and ventilation systems. The department is equipped with specialized laboratories for conducting laboratory work and organizing students’ research activities. There is also a dedicated classroom for diploma project work.

Ninety percent of the department’s faculty hold academic degrees and titles. They actively participate in international conferences, scientific research projects, and internships at leading enterprises and higher education institutions across Ukraine.

Key research areas include:

  • Development and improvement of existing gas-consuming equipment and equipment for combustion of low-calorific fuels by the fluidized bed method;

  • Development of methods and apparatuses for highly efficient and energy-saving dust and gas collection in industry;

  • Development and implementation of energy-saving technologies and energy audits in production;

  • Improvement of design methods and development of new thermal protection enclosures for public and industrial buildings;

  • Development of heat supply systems utilizing low-potential and renewable energy sources.

Graduates of the department are prepared for scientific and industrial activities in municipal heat power engineering, heat and gas supply systems, sanitary-technical building equipment, boiler, heat exchange, and dust and gas cleaning equipment, energy auditing of communal facilities, renewable and alternative energy, and gas field development. Graduates may hold positions such as site manager, designer, project engineer, foreman, research associate, technician, manager, or technical sales consultant for sanitary-technical and energy equipment, among others.

The department collaborates closely with numerous scientific, design, and industrial enterprises and organizations that provide internships and employment opportunities for students and graduates. These include Kharkiv Heat Networks (KP “Kharkivski Teplovi Merezhi”), Scientific Production Enterprise “Naukanaftogaz,” Kharkivgaz, Kharkivmiskgaz, State Production Enterprises “Kharkivgazvydobuvannya,” “Shebelinkagazvydobuvannya,” “Poltavagazdobuvannya,” UkrNDIhaz, and others. The department has established close cooperation with global branded manufacturers of sanitary-technical equipment such as Danfoss, Herz, and KAN. With their support, specialized stands and laboratories have been equipped; for many years, student diploma and master’s thesis competitions have been held with their participation, and they regularly organize seminars for specialists and students.
